Hube's Pocket History
Known to the Germans as Hube's Pocket or to the Soviets as the Proskurov-Chernovitsy Offensive, the 1st SS Liebstandarte Panzer Division, 7th Panzer “Ghost” Division, the First Guards Tank Army (Stalin’s Fist), and many others fought in some of the most ferocious combat of the war. Zhukov himself even commented in his memoirs that, "...a ferocious battle broke out here, the ferocity of which was not seen since the Battle of Kursk,". In one of the largest, and most forgotten, operations of 1944, hundreds of thousands of lives were at stake outside of the critical city of Chortkiv and the murky Dniester River. What to Expect
- A War of Maneuver: Attendees are expected to be mobile and ready for a fluid, constantly shifting battle.
- Aggressive Fighting: The real participants of Hube’s Pocket valiantly fought with courage and determination, many of them veterans of bitter campaigns. High stakes are at play.
- High Quality Authenticity: Whether a beginner to the hobby or a seasoned campaigner, this event promises to bring the best experience and attention-to-detail possible.
- A Return to Dedicated Reenactments: We, like many of you, are tired of spending time, resources, and work to attend events that last only Friday night into Saturday evening. Rest assured that this event will carry on beginning Friday night and will conclude mid-day Sunday.
- This Event will Happen: If you can recall the Kazatin 2018 event, severe cold and rain did not stop our unit! Bad weather will not stop this event from taking place. Our goal as reenactors should be to learn what these brave men and women went through by trying as closely as possible to experience what they lived. They lived through freezing downpours and waste deep water, so we shall, also. PLAN ACCORDINGLY. While the threat of Covid-19 has put a halt to many an event this year, we will not be dissuaded from creating a high quality event. This event will happen!
